IT'S HARD TO SAY FROM WHERE YOU STAND
EXACTLY WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
BUT SOMEPLACE THERE'S A POINT YOU CROSS THE LINE
YOU SEE THE TEARS THAN STAIN YOUR FACE
MIRRORED IN YOUR MAKE-UP CASE
AND KNOW IT'S TIME TO LEAVE THIS PLACE BEHIND
{How very true.} TJ thought as he slowly walked home. {Except maybe for the make-up case part. How am I going to explain this whole thing to Aunt Adelle? How am I going to face her after 'fessing up to this.}
IT'S A LONG WAY HOME
IT'S A LONG WAY HOME
IT'S A LONG WAY HOME
TRYING TO RETRACE YOUR STEPS
ALL TO EASY TO FORGET
JUST WHICH WAY TO GO
IT'S A LONG WAY HOME
TJ stared up at the cloudless night sky and tried to collect his thoughts. Everyone knew that he was a Power Ranger now. There was no secret, no reason to lie anymore. So why did the one thing he wanted more than anything else was run and hide on the Megaship?
OUTSIDE THE SKY IS THREATENING
YOU SLOWLY GATHER UP YOUR THINGS
AND WONDER HOW YOU EVER WILL EXPLAIN
WALKING OUT SO SELF-ASSURED
YEAH, YOU WERE GONNA CHANGE THE WORLD
WALKING BACK, A CHILD IN THE RAIN
{Oh yeah, I thought I was such a hotshot, but when push came to shove, I was a plain coward. I was going to be this big ball player, now what do I have to show for myself? I don't even play the game anymore. I don't have time...didn't have time. Now I'm graduating in a few weeks. That dream is over before it even really started.
I was the leader of the Power Rangers...until we lost our powers. I led the team through everything, but when given a chance, I didn't even vie for the leadership of the team. I was a coward and didn't want the responsibility. I just handed it over to Andros. Never mind that he might not have wanted to lead a group of inexperienced Earthlings. You just thrust it in his face.
And then took it back the minute he did something you didn't like. You can't have it both ways, Teej. It's either as the leader or not.}
HOW CAN YOU RETRACE THE STEPS
YOU'VE BEEN TRYING TO FORGET
STILL IT'S TIME TO GO
AND IT'S A LONG WAY HOME
{Not that it really matters now. There are no more bad guys to fight. We won, and we lost our powers because of it.} TJ sighed. He was nearing the house he shared with his aunt. He had to smile at his aunt's spunk. She had been willing to get blasted by Astronema to save the rest of the planet from certain destruction. {Boy it was a good thing that we actually were in Angel Grove. If we'd been in New York, or Tokyo things would have been hairy there.}
STARTING TO RETRACE YOUR STEPS
YOU LEARN TO LIVE WITH YOUR REGRETS
NEXT STOP HEAVEN KNOWS
IT'S A LONG WAY HOME
Adelle Ferguson watched her nephew trudge his way back to her house. She could understand the boy's hesitation. It wasn't everyday that all your dirty laundry came out in the open. All though, truth be told she was proud of her nephew and she knew that his parents would be equally proud. It wasn't everyday that you found out that a super hero lived under your roof. It explained a lot about his behavior the last two years. The sudden grade drop and the constant leaving under suspicious circumstances. She opened the door for her nephew and he gave her a weak smile as he stepped up to her. She gave him a wide smile and let him inside.
