Author's note: All right, this series title is "Let Me Love You", in French. It will be showing every single ranger romance I can come up with. So after I get through my ever long list of them, you'll all be hearing from me asking for couple. *grin* Enjoy, and lemme know what you think'
"Only a night. I won't even be gone 24 hours. I'll leave at 6 tomorrow evening, and be back by 3 the next afternoon," Her husband answered, kissing her forehead lightly.
"What if..." Trini stopped and motioned to her stomach. It was growing larger by the day.
Billy grinned. "Don't worry, sweets. The Doctor promised Mitchell wouldn't arrive for at least another week."
"I'm just trying to make you stay..."
"I know."
"Well, I'll see you tomorrow, I love you, and take care of yourself," Billy stopped to give his wife of three years a kiss.
"I'll miss you, Billy," Trini sighed. In the whole three years of marriage, they had never been apart over night. She didn't know what to do without him.
"Me too, but I'll only be a phone call away, remember." Trini nodded and watched as Billy picked up his carry on, and walked toward the bridge connecting to the airplane.
Trini watched from the window as he boarded the plane. Her heart felt broken. What would happen when he had to go to more meetings for his new job? Would it get worse each time? The plane took off minutes later, and Trini stared at it until it was a dot in the bright blue sky. She backed away from the window, and walked outside to where her aging mother was waiting to take her home.
The plane was quiet, except for the chatting flight attendants preparing the meal down the aisle from him. He picked his book out from his carry on. He read one page, and set it down again. He kept seeing Trini's face on the pages. He couldn't concentrate. He leaned his head back, and closed his eyes. Instantly, memories of his wedding proposal flooded back.
"Trini Kwan, will you marry me?"
Billy had gone all out. Taken her out to dinner, rented a limousine, and now here he was, on one knee, in the middle of Angel Grove Park, proposing to the one girl who had always understood him.
Trini's face flushed. She threw her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. "Of course I will. I love you...William Cranston."
Just like that. 7 months later, they took their honeymoon in the Bahamas. At only 21 years old, they were happily married. Many months passed. Trini didn't get pregnant. She went to the doctors and then found out that she would never be able to have any children. It was the most devastating news to her. She had 7 older brothers and sisters, and to find out, she would never have her own children, ruined her.
At first she blamed herself. Then she blamed Billy. She left him soon after their first anniversary. She refused to have anything to do with Billy. She moved back in with her mother and locked herself in her room, refusing to eat. Trini's mom finally convinced the two to get counseling. Billy wanted to do anything to help Trini, he still loved her with all his heart, and wanted her back, and he agreed instantly. Trini was more reluctant. But sure enough, after 3 months of counseling, the couple was back together.
As soon as they had begun looking into the adopting, the inevitable happened. Trini was to have a son! The doctors don't know what happened. They may never know. But Trini doesn't care. She's getting what she always wanted. A baby. Now, a month before due date, little Mitchell was itching to get out. Billy was worried about leaving Trini, but the doctor assured them both, he wouldn't be coming for another week at least.
"No, that's ok, Kim. I'll be fine," Trini answered half-heartedly. "Are you sure?"
"Positive." "Ok, well I better go. Practicing for the Olympics isn't easy business, you know."
"I'll talk to you later, then, Bye."
"Take care of yourself."
Trini hung the phone up. The apartment felt so lonely without Billy. It was 8:30. Three hours since she'd seen her husband take off. She wandered into the living room, and eased herself onto the couch. She flipped the TV on, but with 78 channels, there still wasn't anything worth watching. She turned it off, and looked at the clock. 8:45. She wrinkled her nose. It was going to be a long night.
"Man! This living room alone, is bigger then mine and Trini's whole apartment!" He mumbled. It reminded him why he took the job. They desperately needed the money. Trini couldn't do her usual nursing duties at the hospital, so Billy had searched for a new job. Now, the salary he got, was more then Trini's and Billy's old one put together! It was great. But if it meant leaving home for a night or so a month, he didn't know how much longer he'd like it.
He walked across the 2-inch thick plush crimson carpet and to the window. It showed busy San Francisco streets. The meeting would take place downstairs in the large meeting room, the next morning at 7. He would be able to catch his plane at noon, and be back with his wife by mid afternoon.
He flopped down onto the king size bed, and closed his eyes.
* * *
As she was trying again to get comfortable a sharp pain shot through her abdomen.
She held her breath as it passed, but it didn't think too much about it. She'd had three others like in earlier weeks, and each time they'd run to the hospital, only to have it be a false alarm. No baby yet.
Thought drifted to Billy.
"That was unusual," She mumbled, after the pain has ended. Another one, only minutes before the first. It hit her as she felt her water break "Uh-oh..."
"'lo?" She muttered.
"Kim?? It's time, I swear its time!"
Kim was brought fully awake. "Trini, are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure! My water broke! Please come get me, your closer then my mom!"
"Hold on, buddy, I'm coming. You know...Billy is going to kill you for doing this tonight."
"Don't you throw guilt on me! Just get over here! Oooo, another contraction, please hurry, it hurts so much!"
Kim was starting to get worried. "Trini, have you been timing your contractions? They seem to be coming pretty quick."
"Two minutes and counting..." Kim dropped the phone and didn't even bother changing. She grabbed her car keys and bolted from the small cottage.
She lived 4 miles from Trini and Billy's house. She'd make it. She hoped...
He groaned. What a night. He'd be sleeping through the meeting at this rate.
Fear made it's way through her head.
"Trini, it's Kim, how are you doing?" She called as she jogged down the short hallway.
"Kim? Oh Kim, we need to get to the hospital, now. Mitchell is not going to wait!!!"
"All right, can you get up? We need to get you in my car."
"I think so, let's go."
Trini started reaching for the small suitcase that she and Billy had packed the week before, Kim grabbed it for her, and helped the young Oriental woman up.
They barely made it to the car. Trini had another contraction, and stiffened in the parking lot, trying to ease the unbearable pain away.
After Kim had Trini situated in the most comfortable manner possible, she dove into the drivers seat and pealed out into the road. The hospital was 20 minutes away. Please make it, Trini, please. Kim pleaded.
His eyes darted to the duffel bag on the floor. His communicator. He carried it every where. Force of habit. Would it work? He didn't even know. The last he heard, Zordon had been captured, and the Turbos minus Justin, had gone into Space to rescue him. He didn't know what happened after that.
What the heck, he had no other chance. He groped around the bottom of the bag, looking for it. His hand grasped it, and he pulled it out.
"Please work, please..." He mumbled to himself as he pushed the button and thought of home.
"I'm going to go contact Billy, ok, Trini?" Kim asked her friend. Trini nodded. "And...and tell him I'm sorry for not waiting for him."
Kim grinned. "I was just joking about what I said on the phone, he won't be upset, I promise." She watched as they pushed her off toward a delivery room. Kim hurried to a pay phone and hit "0". The operator told her the number, and Kim dialed it.
Billy ran into the adjoining bathroom.
She wasn't in there either. He came back into the bedroom, frantically looking for any clues. His eyes stopped on the empty chair by the door. When he left the previous afternoon, there was a suitcase there. The suitcase that held Trini's belonging for the hospital when the time came, but now, it wasn't there.
She'd gone into labor!
Nothing else came to mind, except getting into the car and driving to the hospital. He couldn't teleport again. He didn't want to over due it, showing up in the delivery room.
He raced down the 4 sets of stairs to the lobby and ran out into the parking lot. He was shaking so much, and barely managed to get the keys in the lock. He did though, and soon found himself driving as fast as his little car would allow, off toward the hospital.
She set off down the hall, and entered the delivery room. No doctors were there, only Trini laying on a bed, machines hooked up to her. She walked cautiously over to her and glanced down at her face.
"Hey, Trini. You look a lot better." "Drugs...gotta love them..." She spoke slowly.
Kim chuckled. "Well, I have some bad news. I couldn't get a hold of Billy."
Trini took in a shaky sigh. "I wish he could be here!"
"Me too..." Just then, the door opened and a doctor walked in. "Hey Trini, I think it's time to deliver this baby, what do you say?"
Trini struggled against her tears. "Yes, it's about time..."
"Now. Where's the lucky husband?"
"He's..."
"Right here!" The door flew open again, and Billy bounced in, flushed and tired.
Kim looked at him, and her mouth must have dropped open, because Billy winked and walking past her mumbled, "Teleportation, what a wonder."
Kim understood then. She flashed them both a smile, and after telling them she'd be in the waiting room, she left.
Billy leaned over kissed his wife. Trini's face held amazement. "How?"
"We'll talk about it later, sweets," Billy promised, "But just to let you know, I couldn't sleep. Just kept dreaming of you..."
A happy tear now sparkled in Trini's eye. "Me too..."
