A Ranger Romance
By Kimber
Florida: Gunther Smidt's Gymnastics Compound
"Alright gymnasts, that's it for today. I will see you all bright and early tomorrow." Gunther Smidt announced. "Take the rest of the day to relax." With that, he walked into his office and closed the door.
Kim sighed with relief and hopped off the beam. Walking over to the benches, she grabbed her bag and swung it over her shoulder. Making her way out the door of the training building, Kim sighed. It was good to finally get out of there. She walked over to the Housing Area, where all the gymnasts had small apartment complexes set up, and opened the door.
The receptionist, who took messages for the gymnasts smiled at Kim."Hey Kim, tough day huh?"
Kim smiled back,"Hi Janice, it always is. Any ,messages for me?" Kim asked standing in front of Janice's desk.
"Let me check." Janice went through a few papers then looked back to Kim."Nope, none today Kim."
"Thanks anyway Janice. See you later." Kim said.
She walked down the hallway and up to her apartment door. Opening her bag she searched around for her keys. When she finally found them, she pulled them out and unlocked the door. Once she was inside she tossed her bag on the floor and walked over to her radio system. Turning it on a song floated into the room, one Kim loved. It made her think about her friends back home ,one in particular, Jason. The last time she had seen him was when the whole Muriathias incident happened. He had helped win the tournament and for awhile stayed in Florida.
Unfortunately, college beckoned and he went back to California to go to college there. He had also saved her life. When Divatox had captured them, they had found a way out but she had gotten caught. Helping her had cost him his chance to get free. Thank goodness that whole mess was over with. But something had happened to Kim before Jason left. She had fallen for him. Her lifetime friend, the guy she grew up, and she had fallen for him. The song played on the radio and Kim plopped down on the couch and ,listened.
"Have you ever loved somebody so much
It makes you cry
Have you ever needed something so bad
You can't sleep at night
Have ever tried to find the words
But they don't come out right
Have you ever, Have you ever
Have you ever been in love
Been in love so bad
You'd do anything to make them understand
Have you ever had someone steal your heart away
You'd give anything to make them feel the same
Have you ever searched for words
to get you in their heart
But you don't know what to say
And you don't know where to start"
Jason had stolen Kim's heart but she hadn't gotten he chance to tell him before he went back to Angel Grove.
"Have ever loved somebody so much
It makes you cry
Have you ever needed something so bad
You can't sleep at night
Have ever tried to find the words
But they don't come out right
Have you ever, Have you ever"
There had been nights after he left where she had sat in bed crying because she had said nothing and had let him get away. Many restless nights had come and gone by. She had tried dozens of times to think of a way to say what she felt.
"Have you ever found the one
You've dreamed of all your life
You'd do just about anything to look into their eyes
Have you finally found the one
you've given your heart
Only to find that one won't give their heart to you
Have you ever closed your eyes and
Dreamed that they were there
And all you can do is wait
for that day when they will care"
He had told her about Emily and how he had broken up with her because of his feelings for someone else, but he had never said who it was and then he had left.
"Have ever loved somebody (so much) so much
It makes you cry (Makes you wanna break down and cry)
Have you ever needed something so bad (so,so bad)
You can't sleep at night
Have ever tried to find the words
But they don't come out right
Have you ever, Have you ever
What do I gotta do to get you in my arms baby
What do I gotta do to get to your heart
To make you understand how I need you next to me
Gotta get you in my world
'Coz baby I can't sleep"
No matter how hard she tried she just couldn't think of a way to tell him. She just hoped that one day,she would be able to.
"Have ever loved somebody so much
It makes you cry
Have you ever needed something so bad
You can't sleep at night (Can't sleep at, just can't sleep at night)
Have ever tried to find the words
But they don't come out right
Have you ever, Have you ever
Oooh
Have you ever?"
The song drifted off and another began to play and Kim quickly turned the radio off. She just couldn't bare to hear another song of lost love and gloom. She sat down on her couch, not knowing that her chance to tell Jason how she felt was just outside.
Florida: Outside Gunther Smidt's Gymnastics Compound
Jason's cab pulled up to the building in no time and after paying the driver, he got out. Janice smiled as he walked into the apartment complexes of the compound."Can I help you sir?"
Jason walked up to the desk,"Yes, I'm looking for Kimberly Hart, is she here?"
Janice looked at the handsome young man that stood before her and almost drooled over herself before replying. "Yeah, can I ask who you are?" she asked
"I'm an old friend of hers from back home." Jason told the girl.
"Would you like me to tell her she has a visitor?" offered Janice.
Jason thought about,"No, I think I'd rather surprise her. What room is she in?"
"Down the hall, last door on the left." Janice replied with a smile. Jason thanked her and walked down the hall .
Janice followed him with her eyes, thinking to herself,*Darn, that girl is lucky* She went back to filing papers as Jason came up to Kim's door ready to knock. He lightly tapped the door and waited for Kim to answer. The door opened and Kim stood there with her mouth open wide.
"Hey Kim! Did you miss me?" Before Jason said another word Kim fainted.
Part Three
Disclaimer: Part three of my first fic, A Ranger Romance. Yes, I
finally
got it
finished. It took me so long to actually get all my ideas together
and I
had
so much editing to do.
Florida: Gunther Smidt's Gymnastics Compound
Jason had been shocked to see Kim faint in front of him, though she
had
done it
before. He shook it off quickly, picked her up and carefully placed
her on
her
couch. "Kim, Kim, Kimmie, okay I know your excited to see me but
this is a
bit extreme." Jason said lightly tapping her cheek to wake her up.
Slowly but surely, Kim's eyes fluttered open and she found herself
looking
into
the chocolate brown, and familiar eyes of Jason Lee Scott, her friend
and
unknowing crush. "Jason, is that you? What...what are you doing here
in
Florida? "Kim asked him, still a bit out of it.
Jason helped her sit up. "What? No hello, hey Jase, its great to
see
you?" he
teased her. She looked at him. "Sorry Jase, I..I'm just surprised
that's
all."
Pulling him into a hug she whispered, "Its great to see you, really
great."
He hugged her back, "Its good to see you to Kimmie.
Both pulled away at the same time and just smiled at each other for a
moment
before Kim broke the silence. "So, what brings you here to
Florida?
"Well, I had a month off from school and I thought I'd find out how
one of
my
oldest friends was doing. Since Billy is in Switzerland visiting
Trini,
I thought I'd come and see you. How are you Kim? You don't faint on
all
your
guests do you?" There was a hint of sarcasm in his last statement.
She lightly hit him in the arm. "No, I don't usually. You just
caught me
by
surprise. I wasn't expecting any company," Kim gave her half-truth.
She
was
surprised by his visit, but her fainting was the cause of happiness
that
she might
be able to tell him how she felt.
"Well, that's good. How is your training coming along?" Jason asked,
shifting
his position on the couch.
"Pretty good I guess. I have one more day of practice before the
weekend.
Coach gave us this weekend off so that we could all relax before the
games.
They're in two weeks."
"That's great Kim, you know were all cheering for you back home.
You're
sure
to bring home a medal. Hey since I'm here already, why don't we go
get some
food and we can talk about old times and what's happening in our
lives now?"
Kim smiled, "Sounds like fun. We can catch a quick eat at the Micky
D's
down
the road." Jason nodded and Kim stood up from the couch. "Let me
just go
get
out of these workout clothes and into something a bit more
comfortable." She
walked over to her bedroom door but stopped. "Jase, I'm really glad
your
here."
That said, she opened the bedroom door and disappeared inside closing
it
after
herself.
While Kim got dressed, Jason took a quick look around her apartment.
He
didn't want to snoop but he wanted to check it out all the same.
Walking
over
to an end-table, he saw that Kim had a couple of pictures of the old
gang.
He
picked up a picture of himself, Kim, Tommy, Zack, Trini, and Billy.
It had
been
the last taken before he, Trini and Zack had gone to Switzerland.
There were a couple other pictures from when they were young but one
picture
stood out most. Putting the other picture down, he picked up a small
little
picture
of himself and Kim at there 6th grade dance. They had all gone
together as
friends, where Trini had her picture taken with both Zack and Billy,
Kim
had asked
him if he wanted to take a picture with her. He had agreed and it
had been
the
first and only time Kim had ever kissed him on the lips. His mind
idled
with the
memory of that night.
*Flashback: Angel Grove, 6th Grade Dance*
"Oh look Skull, its little Miss Pink," Bulk teased as he pushed Kim
towards
Skull.
"Leave me alone Bulk," Kim said with a frown on her face.
"Oh what's the matter, you gonna cry now?" Bulk laughed and Skull
laughed
right along with him.
"Your the one who's gonna be crying Bulk. Leave her alone." Jason
stepped
up
to them and stood between them and Kimberly.
"Or else what musclebrain, you gonna beat us up with all these
teachers
around?"
Bulk taunted as he pushed Jason.
"No, you're not worth getting in trouble over. Just leave her alone."
Jason
shrugged
off the push.
"Good you couldn't take me anyway." Bulk said proudly and snarled at
Jason
and
Kimberly.
"A banana could beat you Bulk." Kim joked back at him.
"Oh really. Well, we'll see about that." Bulk said rushing Jason and
Kim.
At the
last second the two moved out of the way, and Bulk slammed into Mr.
Caplan.
Skull had followed him and ended up knocking into both of them which
caused
them all to fall.
"FARCUS! EUGENE! DETENTION, DETENTION, DETENTION!" Mr. Caplan
shouted and dragged both of the boys out of the dance.
Kim and Jason laughed. Bulk and Skull's antics would become very
popular and
very funny over the years (But that's another story.) Kim turned to
Jason.
"Thanks
Jase." She kissed his lips softly then pulled away.
Jason was breathless but managed to say "You're welcome Kim."
"Oh look!" Kim said, "They're taking pictures now. Want to take a
picture
with
me Jason?"
"Sure Kim. Lead the way."
*End Flashback*
The kiss had lasted seconds but Jason had never forgotten it. There
had been
something in that kiss. Something bonding them together. Jason's
thoughts
were interrupted by Kim's voice.
"Jason? Are you okay?" Kim asked as she came out of her bedroom.
"Yeah, I'm fine just looking at pictures, remembering the old days."
He
quickly
put the picture down before she could notice.
Kim had noticed, but decided not to say anything to him. To herself
though, *He
remembers that night, maybe he does remember that kiss. Oh I hope
so. *
"Well, lets go get something to eat and we can do some more
reminiscing."
Kim said as she grabbed her coat and both of them headed for the
door.
"Sounds good to me. Lets go." Jason said opening the door, allowing
Kim to
exit first and then himself. They headed out into the night, both
hoping
that they
would be able to tell each other how they felt.
