Rocky DeSantos walked into the Youth Center towards the table where his friends sat at, when he noticed something right away. *Where's Katherine and Tommy? Probably on one of their outings again* he thought to himself, cringing *I wish I was in Tommy's place.*
Sitting down next to his best friend, Adam Park, he blurted out, "Where's Tommy and Kat?"
The girl sitting next to Adam, Tanya Sloan, shook her head. "Didn't you hear, Rocky?"
"Hear about what?" he asked, confused.
Adam sighed, and Rocky couldn't help but notice. "What's going on, guys?" the Blue Ranger urged them.
"Rocko, last night Tommy dumped Katherine," Adam explained.
Rocky turned to Tanya, who nodded her head. "I know how you're feeling. I couldn't believe Tommy would do that, either. They just seemed so happy together the last few days," the Yellow Zeo Ranger frowned.
*HOW COULD HE?!?!* Rocky screamed in his head, but kept his physical reaction low key. "Do you think this has anything with his 'Jolt' episode," Rocky referred to a few days earlier when Tommy Oliver was so happy that it looked and seemed like he was on Jolt, Rocky's favorite soda drink; which made him extremely bouncy, happy, and hyper.
"Who knows?" Adam shrugged, "I haven't heard from him since yesterday, but I have a hunch he's down in Summer Springs."
"Summer Springs?" Rocky queried, clueless.
"Yeah, that's where he moved from to Angel Grove. He told me that he was gonna go visit some relatives that live down there today," the Korean-American told Rocky.
"What about Kat?" the boy looked to Tanya.
"She's at home. Crying herself to sleep," she sighed sadly.
"I think I'm gonna have a nice long talk with our leader," the Zeo Ranger growled, standing up from where he sat.
Tanya grabbed him by the arm, just before he could walk off. "And how are you gonna get to him? Summer Springs is a good seventy-five miles from Angel Grove!"
Rocky jerked his arm away from Tanya's grip and tapped on his communicator. "You're not supposed to use that for non-ranger purposes!" Adam hissed quietly at his best friend.
"So what?" Rocky scoffed as he walked away from the table of two, not hearing Tanya's last words.
"He's in love with Kat."
A blue jet of light materialized at the banks of the Summer Springs. "So this is the real Summer Springs," Rocky awed over the beautiful hot spring, "How could a cold person be from such a warm place?"
Just as Rocky was about to walk towards the other side of the spring, he heard some laughing and ran behind a large rock hill next to the spring. Peeking from behind the mound, he saw two people emerge from the large trees at the other side of the spring. As they came closer into his view, Rocky recognized one of them. *Tommy...........* Rocky spat mentally, as he stared at him, arm in arm with another girl. "I hope you haven't forgotten it," the girl giggled out as Rocky watched the couple approach the banks of the Summer Springs.
"How could I forget?" Tommy laughed along with her, the glee in his voice tearing Rocky apart, "Summer Springs is where I met you, almost fifteen years ago to the day, Ms. Shannon Kassandra Kaze."
As they played 'kissy face', Rocky finally recognized the girl Tommy was with. *She's that girl from the movie of Tommy's fifteenth birthday! I've gotta tell the guys!*
With that thought, Rocky teleported away from the repulsing scene, to him at least.
Driving his car as fast as he could to Katherine Hillard's {Kat} house, Rocky had the radio blaring. As the last song died down, another song came blaring out, grabbing Rocky's attention.
From the first day that I saw your smiling face
Honey I knew that we would be together forever
When I asked you out, you said no, but I found out
Darling you'd been hurt, you felt that you'd never love again
I deserve a try, honey, just once
Give me a chance, and I'll prove this all wrong
You walked in you were quick to judge
But honey, he's nothing like me
I'll never break your heart
I'll never make you cry
I'd rather die, then live without you
I'll give you all of me, honey that's no lie
I'll never break your heart
I'll never make you cry
I'd rather die, then live without you
I'll give you all of me, honey that's no lie
As time goes by you will get to know me
A little more better, girl that's the way love goes
And I know your afraid, to let your feelings show
And I understand, but girl it's time to let go
I deserve a try honey, just once
Give me a chance and I'll prove this all wrong
You walked in you were so quick to judge
But honey he's nothing like me
Darling why can't you see
I'll never break your heart
I'll never make you cry
I'd rather die, then live without you
I'll give you all of me, honey that's no lie
I'll never break your heart
I'll never make you cry
I'd rather die, then live without you
I'll give you all of me, honey that's no lie
I'll never break your heart
I'll never make you cry
I'd rather die, then live without you
I'll give you all of me, honey that's no lie
Pulling over to the side of the road, Rocky banged his head on the steering wheel as the song faded out. "Do you really think she'd be willing and able to jump into a relationship with you right now, Rocko?" he asked himself, "She just went through a traumatic experience. She held Tommy dear to her heart and you, of all people, know it. She won't be ready so soon after heartbreak."
Pulling away from the side of road and making a U-turn towards the Youth Center, the wheels in the Blue Ranger's head began to turn. *Last night Tommy broke up with Kat. Today he's seen hanging all over a old friend from Summer Springs* he came to a realization and began to put two and two together *When we were watching that tape of Tommy's birthday, it looked like she was about to kiss him. She sounded pretty seductive too. Could she be an ex-girlfriend of Tommy's............Or worse yet, could she STILL is Tommy's girlfriend?*
"Oh, man," he muttered to himself, gnawing at his lip, "I have a bad feeling I just stumbled over something that wasn't supposed to be revealed just yet...................."
Accomplishing the impossible, Rocky managed to keep his mouth completely shut about his theory of why Tommy dumped Kat for over the next six weeks.
Now, on his forty-fourth day and counting, he sat in the Angel Grove Park's amphitheater watching a Martial Arts demonstration with his friends. At the very moment, towards the end of the demonstration, a beautiful woman was performing a very unique kata when realization hit him on the head like a ton of bricks. *That's it!* he cried mentally *That's her!*
After sitting there for an hour almost, he finally realized what was bothering him. The woman in the program was Tommy's lover, old flame, whatever you want to call her. *With moves like that, I don't blame Tommy for falling in love with her* Rocky thought to himself, as he stood up to applaud her kata.
*But still it doesn't give Tommy the right to do what he did* he declared mentally.
"Hey! Why don't we go ask them a question or two about that kata. It was amazing!" Katherine's exuberant voice pulled Rocky our of his reverie.
Agreeing with her, the Blue Ranger started to head down the steps, right behind Tommy. "Since when did you need you protect your eyes, Oliver!" he heard a familiar voice call up form the bottom of the amphitheater.
Looking down, Rocky saw the same girl from the demonstration and from the Summer Springs standing down at the bottom of the steps. * I knew it!* he thought.
"That's just like you, Kaze, spur of the moment!" Rocky cringed as he listened to Tommy's glee filled voice reply back.
Once they reached the bottom of the theater, Rocky watched as Tommy practically threw himself at the brunette and kissed her with such a strong devotion and affection that made Rocky's stomach churn.
Their lips parted for a moment as she mumbled something to Tommy and responded by he kissed her again.
Looking to Kat, he watched her as all the color suddenly drained from her beautiful face. *Oh, Kat. I wish I could just run to you and hold you in my arms, comforting you. I wish I didn't have to stand by and watch you get hurt again by Tommy, but you've gotta get through this alone. Alone. All by yourself.*
Rocky viewed Kat as she turned her head away from the smothering site quickly, obviously trying to hide the translucent tears that the Blue Zeo Ranger had been able to see from his vantage point. Tears forming his own eyes, he immediately blinked them back when he heard Tanya clear her throat; Turning his attention away from the Pink Zeo Ranger to Tommy and his 'girlfriend'. "Um...Umm, guys, this is Shannon Kassandra Kaze, my girlfriend from Summer Springs. Shannon this is Adam, Kat, Rocky, and Tanya," Tommy introduced to the group, as he glanced Kat's way for a moment; Which didn't go unnoticed by Rocky.
"Hi," Shannon cheerfully greeted.
"Hi!" the four of them returned.
While Shannon jumped into a conversation with Adam, Rocky stared at her; Examining her.
She was gorgeous; A one two three knockout, there was no denying that. She had long healthy locks of shimmering brown hair, sky blue sapphires for eyes, and a smile that would melt any man's heart. Her white bicycle shorts and bikini top showed off her figure that was to die for and would leave any dog drooling. *She seems nice enough* he commented *I guess she doesn't know about Tommy and Kat. But still, she's the cause of Kat's tears and I won't stand for that. At least not until she manages to melt MY heart and befriend ME............*
As his mind wandered away from Shannon and onto his best friend, who was moaning about getting a chain letter, a smile spread across his face; Never bothering to realize that the girl he was 'examining' would turn out to be one of his great friends and the guardian of the Zeo Crystal that he carried.
