Disclaimer: The Song is not mine and the characters aren't mine. This is rated PG since it deals with death and flames.
Note: This is the universe where Tommy chose not to go back to Kim. He
couldn't risk putting her in danger or watch as she grew old while he stayed young.
Sunny came home to her favorite room
Sunny sat down in the kitchen
She opened a book and a box of tools
Sunny came home with a mission
September 17, 2015
Tommy walked into his old room in Angel Grove. He hadn't been in Angel
Grove for twelve years. Tommy sighed as he looked around the room. He got
word that his parents died in a car crash two days ago. He came back for
the funeral. His room was the exactly the same since his 'death' nothing
was moved. Tommy slowly picked up a picture of him with his friends. He
smiled wistfully as he ran his fingers over the image of Kim. Tears flowed
down his face as he took a bag and started to stuff clothes, pictures, and
other things that reminded him about the Power Rangers into it. After his
room was bare of all the memories he picked up his communicator and tucked
it into his pocket. Tommy took one last look around his room and then left
the house.
She says days go by I'm hypnotized
I'm walking on a wire
I close my eyes and fly out of my mind
Into the fire
Tommy stood in the background of the funeral with sunglasses and a long
coat on. He watched silently as the priest gave the eulogy for his parents.
He noticed a group of adults close to the coffins. The group had eleven
people in it five of them were women while six were men. Three of the men
wore blue clothes, while three of the women wore yellow clothes, two women
had on pink garbs, while one man wore green, one man wore black, and the
last man at the front of the group wore red. Tommy recognized them
immediately. They were is old friends. The Power Rangers. After the Priest
spoke the man in red walked to the Podium. Tommy listened to Jason's deep
voice and smiled at how well Jason turned out. After his speech people went
to pay their last respects to the dead. Tommy hung back till almost
everyone left. He then gathered up his strength with a breath and walked up
to his parent's coffins. He said a small prayer as he laid a green flower
on each coffin and then left the cemetery. He didn't notice the group of
people that watched him as he left.
Sunny came home with a list of names
She didn't believe in transcendence
It's time for a few small repairs she said Sunny came home with a vengeance
Tommy kept walking till he got to a clearing in the woods where he was sure
that no one would see him. He took the bag and dumped all of it into a
pile. He then laid the pictures carefully over the clothes to make some
sort of pyre. He then sat down and thought of the past he could never
reclaim. He let the days wash over him as he meditated.
She says days go by I don't know why
I'm walking on a wire
I close my eyes and fly out of my mind
Into the fire
As he meditated he didn't hear the group of people walk to the edge of the
clearing and watch silently. One of the women in pink wanted to look into
his face to make sure she wasn't dreaming. She started to walk towards him
when Jason put a hand on her shoulder to stop her. Kim sighed in
resignation and silently watched the eighteen year old boy that looked
exactly like Tommy. She knew what the boy was going to do and she knew
Jason knew also. She could tell what three words were going through his
heads as he mouthed them. They were running through her head also. They
were the words she chanted thirteen years ago. They were 'Into the fire'.
Get the kids and bring a sweater
Dry is good and wind is better
Count the years, you always knew it
Strike a match, go on and do it
Tommy sighed as he stood up and struck a match. He held it in his hand as
he looked at the dancing flame. He gave one final sigh and flicked the
burning match onto thepile. It quickly caught flame and made a big bonfire.
Tommy stood in front of it as it burned and shed his sunglasses and coat.
He then took the communicator out of his pocket and looked at it. Tears
were streaming down his face and he tossed it into the fire, breaking his
last tie with his past as a Power Ranger.
Oh days go by I'm hypnotized
I'm walking on a wire
I close my eyes and fly out of my mind
Into the fire
Oh light the sky and hold on tight
The world is burning down
She's out there on her own and she's all right Sunny came home
As the flames got smaller and then died Tommy looked up into the sky for
reassurance. He then picked his coat up and shrugged it on as he walked
past the group of adults as if they were strangers. Kimberly put her hand
on his shoulder as he walked by. Tommy looked into her face with pain
filled eyes. Kim smiled and hugged him. Everyone held their breath as Tommy
just stood there like a statue. They let their breath out as he slowly put
his arms around Kim and he cried silently. Tommy then kissed Kim softly on
the lips and looked at the others. They smiled at him. Tommy smiled back
and then walked into the woods and out of their lives one last time. The
next day there were whispers that Tommy's ghost was seen at the funeral.
The whisper came from a group of people that used to be Tommy's best
friends. Little did they know that Tommy was really there in the flesh and
not a physical ghost. Little did they know......
Sunny came home...
