I don't own any of the characters used in this story. Saban owns all of them. This is my first Cassie/Phantom Rangers fic, so I hope you like it!

Missing You
by: Emily

Even as Cassie watched the others celebrate, she felt an emptiness inside of her. She felt that something was missing. Her eyes were drawn to Andros and Ashley, the happiness they had shining off of them.

I wish I could feel the way they do. That someone loves them. She turned her attention to where Zhane and Karone were sitting, somewhat away from the rest of the group. They appeared to be in deep conversation, but the love that they had for each other couldn't be denied. Cassie sighed as she watched them.

I wonder if they know how lucky they are to have someone else who cares for them. To be in love with someone, and they love you back. Looking once more around her, Cassie opened the door and left the room. As she walked slowly down the halls of the Delta Megaship, her thoughts drifted elsewhere. In particular, a person.

"Why hasn't be come back! Even though I barely know him, I feel something everytime I'm around him." Cassie got to her room and opened the door. Walking over to her desk, she opened the door. She pulled out a newspaper clipping, one that had a picture of the Phantom Ranger on it. As she read over the article, a smile tugged at her lips. She remembered that day well.

That was the first time I saw him. And never forgot him, either. Cassie dropped the newspaper clipping and sat on the edge of her bed.

"Does he even remember me? I should have told him how STRONGLY I felt about him, but now it's much too late. He might never come back." she whispered. She felt her throat begin to close up as tears filled her eyes. But before any of her tears could begin to fall, a loud knock startled her. Wiping the tears away, she called out,

"Come in!" The door opened and Ashley walked in, concern for her friend on her face. She walked over to the bed and sat down next to Cassie.

"What's wrong?" she asked. Cassie shook her head, not looking at her friend.

"Nothing. Nothing's wrong." she said. Ashley raised an eyebrow in disbelief as she noticed the tears shining in Cassie's eyes.

"It's about Phantom, isn't it?" she asked softly. When Cassie didn't answer, Ashley knew her guess was right. "He'll come back, Cassie. You know that."

"Will he really come back? He never said that he would. Besides, his work here is done. All evil in the universe is destroyed. He doesn't have any reason to come back." Cassie said bitterly. Ashley looked at her in astonishment.

"Cassie, you know that's not true! He'll come back." Ashley predicted. Cassie looked up and glared at her.

"There's nothing for him here. Why would he come back?" asked Cassie angrily. Ashley sighed and put her arm around Cassie's shoulder.

"Because of you." Ashley explained simply. "He likes you. Everyone can see that. Even though we couldn't see his face, we knew he liked you. With every movement he made towards you, you could see the love in it. Have faith in him." Cassie looked up at Ashley, tears streaming down her face.

"I do. But I miss him, and I want him to come back soon." she whispered. Ashley gave her a small hug.

"He will. But until then, you have a party to attend. Now go fix your mascara, because it's running." Cassie giggled and went into the bathroom. When she came out a few minutes later, she was smiling.

"That's the girl I want to see. Happy. C'mon, the parties almost over." Cassie smiled at her, and the two girls walked back to the party. As they walked into the room, everyone was huddled around one of the consuls.

"What's going on?" Ashley asked.

"There is a ship flying rapidly towards us," Alpha said. Cassie felt her heart flutter. She turned towards Alpha, her heart filled with hope.

"Do you know who it is?" she asked. Alpha turned to her. The robot seemed to be smiling as it answered.

"It's the Phantom Ranger's ship." he said. As the ship flew closer, Alpha opened up the docking bay, so it could fly into it. The rangers hurried down to the docking bay, with Cassie ahead of them all. They watched as the ship landed, and a humanoid walked out. His blue eyes shone brightly as he smiled at all of the rangers. Cassie felt her heart begin to beat faster as she saw him, without his uniform, for the first time.

"Phantom?" she asked. He smiled at her, a smile filled with love, and nodded. She ran over to him and threw his arms around him. The other rangers smiled and quietly walked away, leaving the two alone. As Cassie pulled away, she looked up at him.

"Why didn't you come back sooner?" she asked. "I missed you."

"I wanted to, but I wanted to show you what I looked like without my uniform." he said. She hugged him again. As she looked into his eyes, they reflected the love that she felt for him. As the two leaned closer to each other, both of them knew that this was just the beginning.
