“Hey, Fulgore!” Spinal called. “Wanna practice on the Simudeck?”
“Practice.......what?” Fulgore asked.
“Fighting.”
“You can do that?”
“Sure. All you gotta do is call up some Craterites, and we’re in action,” Spinal explained.
“Well, I’m all for it.”
So the partners went to the Simudeck and created some simulated opponents. Then they began fighting.
“Wow.....to fight beside my partner again,” Fulgore mumbled. “I thought our days together were over.”
“Well, now that we’re both in the Spice Club, our days together have just begun,” Spinal told him. “And we fight a lot more often than we did 2,000 years ago. You won’t even have time to torture me.”
“Does Astronema attack THAT often?” Fulgore asked. “Sheesh. Those bad guys never know when to take a break, huh?”
“The only reason they would take a break is to think of some huge, devious plan, and then hit us with everything they’ve got.”
Jenny and the Rangers were watching the fighters perform their workout. They were impressed by Fulgore and Spinal’s teamwork.
“Wow, nice workout!” T.J. called.
“Fulgore, where did you learn to fight like that?” Cassie asked.
“Well......I didn’t,” Fulgore admitted. “It’s just my martial arts programming.”
“Anyway, we were on our way out to catch a movie,” Jenny said. “You guys wanna come with?”
“Sure!” Fulgore said.
“No thanks,” Spinal said. “I’m just gonna hang out here.”
“Oh, come on, sweet pea; quit moping around,” Fulgore told him. “You’re coming even if I have to drag you every step of the way.”
Spinal shrugged. “They always do this to me......”
So the Rangers and Spices went out to see the movie.
Meanwhile, Astronema decided to retry an old plan to destroy her enemies.
“But Astronema, remember what happened last time you made a clone of a Spice member?” Elgar asked.
“Yeah. You screwed it up,” Astronema said. “Besides, Magic Spice’s clone was nothing but a robot. This clone is made of flesh and blood. There’s no way this plan can fail.”
An exact duplicate of Jenny entered the room. “I am ready to serve, Mistress.”
“When I give the signal, you will infiltrate the Astro Megaship,” Astronema ordered. “You will destroy the Power Rangers and the Spice Club. Understood?”
“Understood.”
“But I’m feeling generous, so I’m willing to wait for Tonfa Spice to leave the ship on her own before sending the clone.”
The villains stood in the Dark Fortress and waited.
Once the movie was finished, the Rangers and Spices came out. Andros and Ashley were holding hands.
“That was so romantic......” Carlos sighed.
“I knew they’d like it,” Cassie said with a grin.
As they walked away from the theater, several explosions started booming around them. Innocent people ran from the area while the heroes ran behind bushes or whatever they could find. Jenny peeked back from behind a tree.
“What was that?” she asked herself.
Then she noticed an arrow stuck in the bark. There was a piece of paper wrapped around it. Jenny took the arrow from the tree and unrolled the paper. It was a note from someone all too familiar. Jenny grinned as she read the note to herself.
“My dear Tonfa Spice: Slip into something out of this world and come to my lab at midnight tonight. Darkonda.”
“Did you see that!?” the Cryptkeeper exclaimed from behind.
“See what?” Jenny asked, playing it off. “I didn’t see anything.”
“You mean you didn’t see all those explosions just a minute ago?”
“No......and you didn’t either.”
The group decided that everything was safe now, so they went back to the Megaship. Jenny spent the rest of the day wondering what Darkonda would want with her this time. Plus, he’s never requested that she dress up before. What was the big occasion?
When midnight finally came, Jenny got up got dressed. She put on the dress that she had worn when she was almost forced to marry Elgar. It was a yellow dress with flowers and spaghetti straps. She had a stylish white, short-sleeved shirt underneath. To top off her good looks, she put a white bead barrette in her hair. Finally, she snuck off the ship. She took her galaxy glider and cruised over to the laboratory. She saw one of Darkonda’s Crocotoxes standing guard outside, so she stopped the glider and stepped off.
“Hold it,” the Crocotox said. “What are you doing?”
“I’m walking into this building,” Jenny said.
“Not without passing me, you’re not,” the monster said.
“You don’t understand. I’m expected,” Jenny told him.
“Yeah, you are......expected to be destroyed.”
“If you mess up my hair, I’m going to kill you.”
“Hey, what’s that white thing?” The Crocotox reached out to grab Jenny’s barrette, but she punched the sea monster in the stomach. Then she kicked it aside and raced into the building. She ran up to Darkonda’s door and pounded on it. Several seconds later, Darkonda answered it.
“Don’t you ever tell your minions when you’re expecting visitors?” Jenny asked with a weary sigh.
“No. Maybe I should, huh?” Darkonda admitted. “But who cares? I see you made it with your skin.”
“Yes, I did; isn’t that great?” Jenny said sarcastically.
“Come in and we’ll get started.”
Darkonda gently took her hand and led her inside. Jenny stared at him with curiosity.
“Why did you call me here in the middle of the night?” she asked.
“To celebrate,” Darkonda told her.
“Celebrate? Celebrate what?”
“You mean you don’t remember?” Darkonda was stunned. “Do you know what today is?”
“It’s......May 19th,” Jenny said. “So?”
“My dear, think back to one year ago, when we had a very momentous occasion.”
Jenny thought for a moment, but she couldn’t think of anything special that could’ve happened a year ago. She shrugged. “I give up.”
Darkonda sighed. “Very well then; I’ll tell you. One year ago today, you and I got married.”
Jenny gasped. “Really? It’s been a year already!?”
Darkonda nodded. “Time flies when you’re having fun, huh?”
“I’ll say!” Jenny cried. “So......what did you have in mind?”
“I have some very special surprises in store for you, my love. Step right this way.”
Darkonda led her deeper into the lab. He picked up a book.
“You know how I love to watch you sleep,” he explained. “So I wanted to draw you sleeping.”
“Wait.......you want me to pose so that you could draw me?” Jenny asked. “You’re an artist!?”
“You know me; I’ve been everywhere, seen everything, and done everything,” Darkonda told her. “Please pose for me. Is that too difficult for you?”
“No, not at all. Well......okay.”
“Then just lie down on that sofa over there.”
Jenny did as she was told. She reclined on her back and placed both hands on her stomach.
“Okay, how’s this?”
“Nah, it’s too ordinary. I need something more.......attractive.”
“Okay......” Jenny tossed onto her side and positioned both arms over her head.
“Perfect!” Darkonda cried. “Hold that pose; it’s beautiful!”
“Okay......” Jenny giggled nervously. Then she calmed down and closed her eyes, pretending to be asleep. Darkonda opened his sketchbook, grabbed a pen, and began drawing........
Astronema found out that Jenny had left the ship, so she sent the clone onto the Astro Megaship. The others were up bright and early.
“So, Jenny, where’d you go last night?” the Cryptkeeper asked.
“What’re you talking about?” the clone asked. “I didn’t go anywhere.”
“Don’t give me that. I got up in the middle of the night and checked on you. You weren’t in your bed.”
“Yes, I was. I was......invisible.”
“Yeah right. Since when do you have the ability to go invisible?” the Cryptkeeper asked.
The clone gave him a dirty look. “Now, now, let’s not get nosy, buddy.”
“Boy, somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning,” the Cryptkeeper mumbled.
Spinal entered the room yawning. He took a seat next to the clone and caught her staring at him.
“What?” he asked.
The clone rolled her eyes. “Nothing......”
Spinal continued to stare at her, sensing something weird about her. Then he shook his head and gave up.
“Spinal, I had a weird dream last night,” the clone said. “I dreamed that I was being chased by these dogs.”
“D-D-Dogs?” Spinal stammered.
“Sure. They were these rabid dogs. I ran as fast as I could, but they kept gaining on me and gaining on me. I was only a short distance from my front door when the dogs dove in. That’s when I woke up. I reached the back of my neck, and check out what I found. Take a look......”
Spinal leaned closer to look at what the clone pointed at.......
“RRRAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!” The clone roared at him suddenly. Spinal screamed and fell out of his chair. The clone gave him a strange look as she barked again. Spinal screamed again and ran out of the room.
The skeleton warrior raced down the hall. When he passed Fulgore, the cyborg reached out and grabbed him.
“Whoa......slow down, short stuff,” he said. “What’re you running from?”
“It’s Jenny......” Spinal gasped. “She scared me!”
“Jenny? I didn’t think she was the kind of girl who would do that,” Fulgore said.
“We have to be careful, Fulgore. She’s acting really weird this morning.”
“Doesn’t she always act weird?”
“No, no; I mean this is really weird, even for her,” Spinal told him. “You should’ve seen the look she gave me as soon as I walked in there.”
“Oh Spinal, would you stop being so suspicious!?” Fulgore asked.
“Hey, I know when there’s something wrong, and there’s definitely something wrong right now!”
“Oh boy......”
Meanwhile, the Jenny clone was exploring the Megaship.
“Now to find the bridge,” she told herself.
“The bridge is through the door on your right,” Deca called out of nowhere.
The clone glared at the blinking red light, then followed the direction.
Meanwhile, Darkonda had finished sketching his picture.
“Done!” he called.
Jenny didn’t move. She had obviously fallen asleep. Darkonda stood over her.
“Hmm.......she’s just so beautiful, I almost hate to wake her up,” he thought. He gently touched her forehead. “Time to wake up, Sleeping Beauty.”
Jenny’s eyes fluttered open. “Wh......what happened?” she asked.
“I’m finished,” Darkonda told her.
“Already? I must have fallen asleep.”
“Take a look.” Darkonda showed her the picture. Jenny sat up to get a better look.
“Wow! That’s cool!”
“Listen.....I need your help with something.” Once again taking her hand, Darkonda led Jenny into the next room. “Would you help me test out my invention?”
Jenny gasped. It looked like a brown metal table. The surface was made of brown bars. The only thing Jenny noticed is a piece of eye equipment attached to it.
“What is it?” she asked. “It just looks like an old rusted table.”
“True, that’s what it LOOKS like,” Darkonda told her. “But there is more to it than what meets the eye. Climb on and I’ll show you what I mean.”
“Get......on that thing?” Jenny asked.
Darkonda nodded. Jenny reluctantly climbed on the strange table and reclined on the bars. She felt them cross her back horizontally. To her surprise, Darkonda began to strap her arms and legs down. Jenny gasped when she realized what he was doing.
“Do not be alarmed, my dear,” he said. “Once we get started, you’ll be glad that I secured you down.”
“Uh.....okay,” Jenny said, her body trembling uncomfortably.
Darkonda pulled up a couple of handles near Jenny’s hands. “Here’s something for you to hold on to. I know how people automatically grab onto things when they’re on a hairy ride.”
“Is this going to be a hairy ride?” Jenny asked.
“Oh yes. It’s going to be a very hairy ride. I’ll admit that it does take a lot of courage to submit to this. I truly admire you for your bravery.”
“Uh......thanks.”
Without another word, Darkonda finished setting up his invention. He took a metal ball with a plastic tube attached to it and gently stuffed it into Jenny’s mouth. A green liquid flowed through the tube and into her mouth. Jenny’s eyes squinted at the foul taste.
*Now I know what he means,* she thought.
Darkonda positioned the viewfinding equipment over Jenny’s eyes. She was beginning to get uncomfortable. She wanted to protest, but with that ball in her mouth, she knew there was no turning back now. So she prayed that this invention test would be over quickly.
“All right. I’m going over here to operate the machine,” Darkonda explained. “You just lay back and relax, okay?”
Jenny nodded. Darkonda gently touched her shoulder before moving over to the main controls. He flicked a few switches, which caused the table to spin around slowly. Darkonda flicked another switch.
“Tonfa Spice.....would you, uh, take a look at something?” he called.
Jenny looked up into the equipment over her eyes. It showed scenes of Darkonda and Jenny’s past meetings. As she watched, she felt the table spinning around faster and faster. She gripped the handlebars tightly as she cried out into her ball gag.
“Hang on, my love; you’re doing fine!” Darkonda called encouragingly.
The table continued to spin as Jenny watched the old memories......
Back at the Megaship, Jenny’s evil twin has caused enough damage.
“Rangers! Spices!” Alpha cried. “I’m afraid I have bad news! Someone has lowered all of our defenses!”
Jenny’s clone turned from the controls. “And that someone would be me.
“Jenny!?” Andros was stunned. “Why!?”
Suddenly, Astronema, Ecliptor, and the Quantrons appeared right there on the bridge!”
“Take the Megaship!” Astronema ordered.
The heroes fought the Quantrons, but there just wasn’t enough room to defend themselves. Soon, they were all captured. The clone left the bridge, the returned a few minutes later.
“Everything is just so clean!” Astronema cried happily.
“Look what I found,” the clone said, holding up five neon-green transparent disks.
“The Psycho Ranger data disks!” Astronema spread them out on the floor, then restored the Psycho Rangers to their normal form.
“We’re back to normal!” Psycho Red cried.
“With the Rangers and Spices finally out of the way, you’re free to terrorize Angel Grove,” Astronema said. “Now go.”
The Psycho Rangers teleported out of the ship.
“But what if Tonfa Spice comes back?” the clone asked.
“She is not my concern,” Astronema told her. “She doesn’t stand a chance on her own. Soon enough, she will be destroyed.”
In the meantime, the Cryptkeeper, Spinal, C.C., and Hallie were tied up in the engine room.
“I don’t believe this!” Hallie cried. “How could Sis give in to Mom like that?”
“That wasn’t even Jenny,” the Cryptkeeper said. “Now I see what happened. The real Jenny must have been kidnapped overnight and replaced with this imposter! How else could you explain her disappearance? Besides, she’s been acting weird all day!”
“I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed,” Spinal said.
“We’ve got to get out of here and find her!” The Cryptkeeper looked around for a moment. He pointed a finger at Spinal’s ropes and fired a laser that freed Spinal.
“Go get ‘em, Spinal!” Hallie cried.
Her outburst awakened the Quantrons standing guard. They aimed their blades at Spinal and fired energy blasts at him. The blasts struck him in the chest, knocking him over. Spinal got up and battled with the Quantrons. A few well-placed attacks had them subdued.
“Way to go, Spinal!” the Cryptkeeper said. “Well, you know that absolutely nothing can stop Jenny from contacting us. So why don’t you contact her and see if she’s okay.”
“Okay.....” Spinal opened up his ring......
However, Jenny was currently in a position in which she couldn’t answer her communicator. Darkonda was still operating his invention. Despite the speed of the spinning table, he barely managed to notice Jenny’s ring flashing. So he slowly stopped the machine. Then he freed Jenny. She sat up, clutching her head.
“Oh man......”
“How do you feel, my love?” Darkonda asked.
“Kinda dizzy,” Jenny said. “What was the point of that anyway?”
“No point. It was just for fun,” Darkonda told her. “Anyway, I had to stop because I believe that your friends are trying to contact you.”
“Huh?” Jenny looked down, then answered her ring. “Hello?”
“Jenny!” Spinal called.
“Oh, hi Spinal,” Jenny said.
“Where are you?” Spinal asked.
“I’m in Darkonda’s lab.”
“So......you’re all right?”
“I’m fine. Spinal, what’s going on?” Jenny asked.
“We’ve got a hell of a problem,” Spinal explained. “There’s an evil clone of you lurking about, and Astronema has taken over the Megaship!”
“Where are you now?”
“I’m on the Megaship. But I suggest that you go fight the Psycho Rangers first. They’re terrorizing innocent people! I......I guess I’ll take care of things here.”
“Okay, I’m on it,” Jenny said. She closed her communication channel, then turned to her husband. “Well, I gotta go. Duty calls......”
“Understood,” Darkonda said. “Happy Anniversary, my dear.”
Jenny smiled. “Happy Anniversary.” She started towards the door, but since she was still feeling dizzy, she walked right into the wall. “Holy cow, Darkonda! Where did you hide the door!?”
“It’s right there, where it’s always been,” Darkonda told her. “Can’t you see it?”
Jenny paused. “Oh......yeah.....see ya.....” She walked out of the laboratory.
Meanwhile, the Psycho Rangers were frightening innocent citizens in Angel Grove.
*Now who let them out?* she thought as she ran out to face them.
“Hold it right there, Psychos!” she shouted.
The Psycho Rangers stopped, standing side by side.
“Well, well, well; look who we have here,” Psycho Red said.
“You shouldn’t terrorize innocent people like that,” Jenny said. “It’s not right.”
“And who’s going to stop us?” Psycho Blue asked. “You? By yourself?”
The Psycho Rangers laughed, mocking the dressed-up girl.
“Yeah.....exactly.....” Jenny replied. “Me......by myself.....”
“Why are you wearing that disgusting dress?” Psycho Yellow asked.
“Disgusting!?” As she said the word, Jenny felt the insult stinging her vocal cords. She stormed up to Psycho Yellow and pointed directly to her chest. “Hey......I’m beautiful, dammit!” She backed up into her original position.
“What do you think?” Psycho Yellow asked the others.
“Come on; there are five of us,” Psycho Black said. “We should be able to handle her.”
“Yeah, there are five of you guys!” Jenny repeated. “Surely y’all can beat little old me......riiiight? So come on! Show me what you’ve got!”
“You can’t handle what we’ve got!” Psycho Pink cried.
“I think I can,” Jenny said. She held out her hand and produced the Cryptkeeper’s sword. Then she extended her empty hand toward the Psychos, gesturing for them to come to her. “Come on! Give it to me, baby!!!”
With a yell, the Psychos charged at Jenny. She held her ground and parried all of their attacks. She blocked Psycho Red’s attack, then snap kicked Psycho Black in the groin. She shoved Psycho Red away, then swung the sword, striking the other Psychos. Psycho Pink attempted a punch to the face, but Jenny grabbed her wrist and flipped her over onto her back. Then she stomped on Psycho Pink’s chest. Psycho Blue leaped at Jenny, brutally kicking her in the back with both feet. Jenny used the momentum to roll back to her feet. She gripped the sword and waited for the Psychos to attack again. Psycho Black attacked with his lance, but Jenny blocked with the sword and roundhoused him in the stomach. Then she kicked him into Psycho Yellow. Jenny spun around, extending the sword, repelling the other three Psychos. Psycho Red attempted a roundhouse, but Jenny grabbed his ankle and tripped his other leg. Then she jumped back and began to gather energy in her palms the Pink and Blue Psychos glared at her. When they charged, Jenny threw her energy blast at them. Four Psychos were knocked into a pile, but Psycho Red charged at Jenny again. She blocked his punch, then punched him several times. Finally, she spun around, thrusting her foot into his chest, knocking Psycho Red back into the others. Then Jenny paced around in place, appearing to be disappointed.
“Come on!” she cried. “Five against one, and you guys still suck! Either that, or I did pretty damn good, considering the fact that I’m improperly dressed and that I suck with a sword!”
“Man, what does it take to beat her!?” Psycho Black cried.
“I have an idea,” Psycho Yellow said. “Follow my lead.”
The Psychos gathered around Jenny. Psycho Yellow threw a punch, but when Jenny blocked and attempted to counter, Psycho Yellow suddenly vanished, throwing Jenny off balance. Psycho Black pulled the same tactics. Then Psycho Red performed it. Jenny was getting aggravated. The Pink and Blue Psychos grabbed her shoulders. When Jenny spun around to break free, the other Psychos reappeared, laughing. Jenny crossed her arms and tapped her foot.
“I suppose you think that this is funny, don’t you!?” she asked.
“Now!” Psycho Red cried.
The Psychos again formed a circle around Jenny and extended their arms out. Jenny quickly ducked, as all the Psychos fired a massive energy blast. The blasts sailed over Jenny, and slammed into one another, knocking them all back. Jenny stood up and looked at all the Psychos, who lay around her completely motionless.
“Go on,” she said with a smile. “Knock yourselves out. I’m going home.” She stepped on Psycho Red as she walked away.
Back at the Megaship, the Spices eventually freed everyone and regained command of the ship. Then the Rangers and a few Spices stopped outside the bridge.
“Well, anybody got a plan?” Fulgore asked.
“Can I do the talking!?” Hallie asked.
“Sure,” the Cryptkeeper told her.
Together, they raced onto the bridge.
“Okay, Mommy, your evil, ship-conquering days are over!” Hallie shouted.
Astronema stood up and smiled. She snapped her fingers, and a snapping turtle monster appeared.
“Destroy Angel Grove,” she ordered. She turned to the clone. “Stay here and wait for Tonfa Spice.”
The monster disappeared. Astronema grinned, then disappeared with Ecliptor and the Quantrons.
“We have to save Angel Grove,” Andros told the others. “She’ll get hers later!”
The Rangers and Spices teleported to Angel Grove.
“Fire the sattelasers!” Astronema ordered from the Dark Fortress.
A green beam of light surrounded the turtle monster, causing it to grow up to the size of a skyscraper.
“Uh-oh,” the Spices mumbled.
“We need the Mega Voyager!” the Cryptkeeper cried.
Jenny returned to the Astro Megaship. She was stunned to find it apparently empty.
“Where is everybody?” she wondered. “Deca, is there anyone on the ship?”
“There’s a duplicate of you on the bridge,” Deca replied.
Jenny’s eyes burned with fury. She tightened her fists as she stormed down the hall......
Meanwhile, the Mega Voyager had arrived on Earth ready for battle.
“Okay, ready?” the Cryptkeeper asked.
“Ready,” Earl said.
“Ready,” Spinal said.
“Ready,” C.C. said.
“Ready,” Hanim said.
“Let’s jump in the hot seat!” the Cryptkeeper declared.
The five Spices leaped up into the Megazord’s cockpit......
The doors slid open and Jenny stepped onto the bridge.
“Hey! Show’s over; I’m taking control now!” she announced. She opened up her ring and contacted her friends. “Okay, Spices, I’m preparing to face my evil twin now.”
“Well, good luck, honey-baby,” the Cryptkeeper responded from the Mega Voyager. “You’re gonna need it.”
“I can’t believe I’m sitting in the front again!” Spinal remarked out of nowhere.
“Why don’t you just give up, Tonfa Spice,” the clone tainted. “There’s no way in hell you could defeat me.”
“I’ve got news for you,” Jenny retorted. “This isn’t hell, this is outer space.”
“Yaaaaahhh!!!!” The clone dashed at Jenny. The twins blocked each other’s attacks. Since they were identical, their skills were equal. It wasn’t likely that either of them would win. The fighters continued to go for each other’s throats.
“All right, you ugly excuse for a turtle!” the Cryptkeeper cried. “Take that!”
The Mega Voyager attempted a kick, but the monster blocked it. Then the Spices tried a roundhouse punch, but the monster rolled under it. The Spices struggled to get the Megazord to face the monster.
“Man, this thing is so cumbersome, I can’t stand it!” C.C. cried.
The turtle monster fired lasers from its eyes, which exploded upon hitting the Megazord. The Spices screamed and covered their faces to shield themselves from the sparks that exploded in front of them. The Megazord tipped backwards suddenly, hitting the ground with a gigantic crash. It took a few seconds for the sparks to clear.
“Uh......a little help up here......” the Cryptkeeper called.
“You got it,” Andros responded. “Delta Megazord, online!”
The monster raised its razor sharp claws and brought them down towards the Megazord. The Spices screamed, preparing themselves for their violent end. Fortunately, the monster was distracted by bullets from the Delta Megazord as it rushed into Earth’s atmosphere. It landed on its feet with a thud, then spread its arms out, its basic fighting stance. As it battled with the monster, the Spices strained to get the Mega Voyager back on its feet.
“Come on, get up, you old stinking junk pile!” the Cryptkeeper demanded.
“I can’t believe we ever got anywhere in this bucket of bolts!” Spinal cried.
Eventually, they managed to get the Mega Voyager to stand up.
“That’s more like it,” the Cryptkeeper said. “Now let’s give this guy a major shell shock!”
“Ain’t nothing to it but to do it!” Earl called.
“Let’s show him what we’re made of!” C.C. shouted.
Then together, the five pilots emitted their battle cry: “Let’s add some Spice!”
“That’s the spirit!” cried Fulgore, who was watching with everyone else. “Smash! Crush! Pound! Sock it to ‘em! Kill, kill, kill, kill!!!”
“Settle down, Fulgore,” T.J. said as the Rangers restrained him.
The Mega Voyager approached the snapping turtle monster and punched it in the chest. The monster retaliated with a claw to the chest. The Mega Voyager took both of the monster’s wrists, then kicked its shins. The monster fell back, crashing on the ground.
“Let’s end this!” Spinal declared. “Mega V3 Missile, online!”
“You go, little one!” Fulgore called.
The V3 missile attached itself to the Mega Voyager’s arm.
“Hey ugly!” the Cryptkeeper called. “Eat this!”
The Megazord fired the gigantic missile at the monster. The missile left a blaze behind it as it exploded into the monster. With a final scream, the monster hit the ground and exploded. The Spices cheered.
C.C. stood up and shook her fist into the sky. “In your FACE!!!” she screamed.
“Now let’s see how Jenny’s doing,” the Cryptkeeper suggested.
The Rangers and Spices returned to the Astro Megaship. They entered the bridge, fully prepared to find themselves entangled in a violent battle. However, the bridge appeared to be peaceful. There was no one in sight.
“Hello?” Spinal called. “Jenny? Are you in here?”
A black chair turned to face them slowly. Jenny was sitting in the chair......or at least one of them was. But which one was she? Was she the real Jenny, or the evil clone? The others knew that they had to be careful. Jenny stared at the group with a blank expression on her face.
“Uh.....hi,” the Cryptkeeper said. “We took care of Astronema’s monster. Now all we have to do is find out whether you’re the real Jenny or the imposter.”
“I am Jenny.......the one and only.”
“But how do we know that? You could just be the clone,” the Cryptkeeper said. “Are you sure it’s you?”
“Of course it’s me. What are you talking about?” Jenny chuckled. “Go ahead, ask me anything.”
“Okay.....” The others pondered for a moment.
“Why are you all dressed up?” Hanim asked.
“Did you really make yourself invisible last night?” the Cryptkeeper asked.
Jenny looked up. “All right, I confess! I did it!”
“Did what?” T.J. asked.
Jenny sighed. “I snuck out to Darkonda’s lab last night!”
“But that still doesn’t prove that you’re the real Jenny,” the Cryptkeeper said. “There has to be something that only Jenny can answer......”
“What about that trick you pulled this morning?” Spinal asked.
“What trick?” Jenny asked.
“You know, like, ‘The dogs were chasing me, they were gaining and gaining on me,’ and then you barked in my face.”
“That wasn’t me.”
Spinal paused. “Whaddaya mean it wasn’t you?”
“Forget it, Spinal,” the Cryptkeeper said.
“Okay, whichever one you are, what happened to the other one?” Fulgore asked.
Jenny continued to relax in the chair. “Oh, I took care of her.”
“I’ve got it!” the Cryptkeeper cried. “Only the real Jenny knows the answer to this question: How did the spirits at Hull House awaken?”
“The spirits woke up when we failed to perform a past life seance properly,” Jenny said.
The Cryptkeeper nodded. “That’s Jenny, all right. Phew!”
“Anybody wanna take a break?” Ashley asked.
Jenny held up a toothpick and twisted it between her fingers.
“Yeah. We’ll get a snack at the Surf Spot,” Carlos added.
“Don’t mention food to me again,” Jenny said, picking at her teeth with the toothpick.
“Why not?” T.J. asked.
“Doesn’t this kind of remind you of the time when Mom sent the Robot Ruth to get us?” Hallie asked. “Why would she try that again?”
“This clone was made of flesh and blood,” Jenny said. She rubbed her stomach. “Yummy......”
The Cryptkeeper’s jaw hung open as he realized the fate of the clone. “No, you didn’t!!”
Jenny stood up and hiccupped. “Excuse me......you guys have fun. I’ll just take a break. I’m tired.....”
“Jenny......sometimes you sicken me,” the Cryptkeeper said.
Jenny continued to scrape her teeth with the toothpick. “Yeah, whatever......Mom should know better by now. You know what they say in the Coca-Cola commercials: You can’t beat the real thing.”
So Jenny celebrated her first anniversary with Darkonda. Plus, she proved that she was virtually impossible to defeat. Is there any stopping the Spice leader? You go, girl!!
